 WOW!
Have you ever wondered what a bulldozer and 400 tons of crushed concrete
can do for the roads at a retreat center? Well wonder no more! With generous
gifts and discounts on materials and services from
,
, and
Brazos River
Constructors, the roads at the Cramer Center were converted
from narrow paths filled with pot holes into wide, smooth lanes in the course
of a single day. It was a very rainy week leading up to the work and there
will be some settling and touch up to do (yes, that means more volunteer
opportunities!), but the additional materials on the roads made an awesome
difference. Here are some "before and after" pictures for you to enjoy.
At the Wellhouse:
Before:

The ground in front of the Wellhouse was always soft, and there was not very
much parking near House 1, where many meetings are held. |
After:

With "a little help from our friends," the Wellhouse now has ample space
for some cars to serve both the Wellhouse and House 1. |
House 2:
Before:

House 2 has always been one of the more popular houses because of the fireplace,
but it only had a narrow lane that did not reach the house. As you can see,
water collected in the low spots, making it difficult to use on wet days. |
After:

The lane has been widened and extended back closer to the house now. Several
cars can park on the sides of the lane. The small mound of crushed concrete
that you can see at the far end of the lane is gone now. It was spread by
hand on the footpath between House 2 and House 3. |
House 3:
Before:

Rain made ponds in front of House 3 that were impossible to avoid during
wet weather. In addition, the lane was narrow and many guests had difficulty
backing around the corners to pull their vehicles out of the area. |
After:

The lane has been made wider here, too. In addition, the road actually bends
to the right to make a circle drive in front of the house. What a wonderful
improvement! |
The Board of the Cramer Center and all of its guests are overwhelmed by the
generousity that God has shown through His people on this project. We raise
our thanks to God and all of His people who provided so well for the ministries
of the Cramer Center.
God bless you--
The Cramer Center
